I am just finishing a history of the papacy, which seems integral with the history of the city of Rome. It's good to be Pope.
ReplyDeleteBack before the end of the Papal State in 1860 indeed the Pope was the Ayatollah and terrorized the inhabitants of the Papal State with his police etc... am sure Italians today do not miss that era.
